9 out of 10 women who get breast cancer don’t have a family history of the disea
|
|
SHOUT Guest User writes "Did you know that only between 1 and 5 percent of breast cancer is heredity and that ageing is the most significant risk factor for developing this disease. In fact, most breast cancers occur in women over 50 years.
With this in mind, BreastScreen ACT SE NSW invites all women aged over 50 to come to BreastScreen for FREE 2-yearly mammograms.
Mammograms (also called breast X-rays) can pick up small changes in women’s breasts usually before they can be felt or noticed by women themselves.
Early detection of breast cancer can increase a woman’s chances of surviving the disease and may also allow for more treatment options for women diagnosed with breast cancer.
Research has shown that breast screening using mammograms in women aged 50 –69 years can cut the number of deaths from breast cancer by up to one-third.
Women aged 50 –69 years can make an appointment for a FREE mammogram with BreastScreen ACT SE NSW by phoning 13 20 50.

About the ACT Motor Neurone Disease Assn
|
|
SHOUT_Coordinator writes "The Motor Neurone Disease Association of ACT was formed to give support to patients, carers and families. We also, when possible, provide equipment for our patients to enabled them to be more comfortable for as long as possible.
As we receive no government funding we have to rely on the generosity of our members and friends to help us raise funds through donations or fundraising events so that we can continue to give this support and assistance.
