The News.com.au tech section is reporting that:
Australian Senators and their staff can no longer use their Parliament House computers to surf internet porn or gamble online.

Senate President Alan Ferguson today revealed Parliament House’s internet filtering system had been extended to senators’ offices, formerly exempt from the restrictions.

The system blocks access to “blacklisted” material, which also includes websites about illegal drugs, illegal weapons and racial hate.

But the Australian Democrats have complained bitterly about the move, saying the system is blocking legitimate sites they need for research purposes…

“It seems to me to be a form of censorship which has absolutely no purpose,” Democrats Senator Lyn Allison told the Senate…And I object to the fact that someone else is deciding what is a morally appropriate website for me to observe and what is not.” (Source)
